On top of population recently growing in Buda, San Marcos, and Kyle, San Marcos also saw a median home sale closing price increase of approximately 52%. Kyle saw a 60.2% increase, while Buda experienced an increase of around 63.2%.

A study conducted last year by Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies revealed that over 39 million individuals in the United States are financially burdened thanks to housing costs. This is due to the fact that 30% or more of their total income ends up getting spent on housing.

One company is hoping to help bring more affordable homes to the general area by constructing around 400 tiny home units, which range between 200 and 400 square feet, throughout four different phases. These units would be placed into a community being called Pecan Meadow Village, which is located near downtown Kyle. The location was said to be selected due to the affordable housing market in the area, as well as it’s general proximity to the city of Austin.

The units will contain a full kitchen, bathroom with a small shower, and a bedroom on the ground floor. For an extra cost, however, a dishwasher and washer/dryer unit can be added.

The price to purchase these homes in the complex would be between $80,000 and $120,000. Those who choose to finance instead will have to pay upwards of $1,100 per month.
